I’m Lilit Danielyan, a photographer, filmmaker, and teaching artist currently based in Lisbon, Portugal.
My work explores themes of migration, belonging, identity, and memory, often blending documentary photography with emotional storytelling. Whether I’m behind the camera or guiding a workshop, I aim to create moments where people feel recognized, reflected, and truly seen.
Artistic Practice & Exhibitions
I work across both commercial and documentary contexts, always with a personal, human approach.
My photography
has been featured in PhotoVogue and exhibited internationally
in Portugal, Bosnia, Mexico, Geneva, and the United States.
I was the principal photographer for Dear Maine, a portrait book sharing the stories of immigrants making a new home in America.
Background & Teaching Work
As a teaching artist, I lead international photography workshops and teach a signature course in Therapeutic Photography, where I explore how visual storytelling can support emotional awareness, healing, and creative expression.
I studied documentary photography at Docdocdoc and 16mm narrative cinema at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts (FAMU) in Prague. I also hold a BA in Psychology from Smith College, a foundation that deeply informs my approach to both teaching and photography. I’m a member of Women Photograph and the VII Photo Academy.
